Culture is Couture! (2011-present) is a stage production featuring a unique & solid blend of African, Latin & Eastern cultures. Culture is Couture! consists of timed segments representing various aspects of the aforementioned cultures through dance, spoken word, drama & fashion. A true CELEBRATION of yourself, others and the world in which we live.
"Culture" is a mental and spiritual identity developing customs and traditions with global value and personal sentiment.
"Couture" is a fashion term referring to unique or often times “hard-to-find style” meaning “rare.”
Putting these two terms together (Culture is Couture!) gives special worth to what connects us all--our CULTURE!
It’s very hard to appreciate what you are because you can’t experience all that you are the SAME way that others do. Culture is Couture! is a way to experience a part of yourself through others while not losing yourself in the process. Both enjoyable and memorable--audience and performers give this performance its meaning!
VISION
The production that is Culture is Couture! aims to:

To celebrate the richness of the peoples creating the world in which we present.

To educate through a “pleasurable means” the necessary fundaments of equipping the present moment with tools to “repeat or erase” our past.

To elevate the minds/souls of the participants/audience.

To dedicate time to “building our present” upon a sure & stable foundation.

To commemorate the “times past” by not forgetting the roots of what we are the offspring of.

First, I must share with you that I never thought I ‘d ever be creating performances to educate and share beauty with others. Since 2001, I have been working in promotions, media, print and event coordination. I had no plans for this while in school, but when I started working for a local Magazine company, that is when it all began.
I have found that most performances lack intention for the audience & are SOLELY created & held just for profits by those hosting them. I decided a long time ago, to aim for a purpose to perform--instead of just a profit.The monies will come but will the people be glad they came? :)
I have enjoyed creating various artistic events but I must admit that I LOVE coordinating the ideas for “Culture is Couture!” and I am looking forward to the Day when the performance matches what I have in mind for it to be.

THE SHOW--CULTURE IS COUTURE!
Culture is Couture! is a presentation feature of the “Nzuri Natural Hair Health &Beauty Festival!” In 2011, we had over 50 performers on stage. We continue to grow and add more routines to the show.
Currently, we perform at least three cultural dance scenes (African/Latin American & Oriental) and we host at least 2 dramatic/artistic intermissions. We plan to expand to many more cultural representations on stage.
The goal of “Culture is Couture!” is to educate others of the beauty & traditions that were built yesterday still providing a foundation for people today!
Culture is Couture! aims to represent all peoples and all cultures! We celebrate the beauty called diversity--teaching wonders of life & death!
Culture is a composition of spiritual, mental and physical ways in which people think and live; while creating traditions, societies, laws, governments and so much more that we continue to explore!

Culture is Couture! is a main stage production featured by the NZURI NATURAL HAIR HEALTH & BEAUTY FESTIVAL!
The festival is held at Reliant Center each year. This is the 5th year of celebrating the NZURI NATURAL HAIR HEALTH & BEAUTY FESTIVAL!
The dates of the festival this year are December 7 (Saturday)and December 8 (Sunday)!
